Specialization: 1040,1065,1120,1120s,990 & Tax Research Job Description: Background includes deep knowledge of tax code, emphasis on complex corporate transactions, entity structuring, and estates and trusts, as well as taking leadership role in developing staff and maintaining quality control. Accomplishments include: · Reviewed and overviewed an extensive number of 1040’s, 1041’s, 990’s, 5227’s (particularly CRATS and CRUTS) and various multi-state business tax returns (including adjusting government contracting trial balances, returns with both inbound and outbound international transactions and SALT work-arounds). Extensive experience with large estates involving valuation discounts, GRATS, qualified domestic trusts and the recent DSUE and basis reporting rules. · Lead role in all firm international items , including GILTI, PFICS and k2/k3 training · Gift tax niche including late allocations; both intentional and repairing as needed. · Focused on issues of highly compensated wage earners and self-employed individuals, including stock options, restricted stock units, various retirement plans, HSA’s, medical reimbursement accounts, multi-state credits and composite returns, investments in Hedge Funds, foreign source income and state source income for NR returns. · Gained experience with CCH ProSystem fx tax, ProSystem fx engagement, ProSystem fx “Document” data storage system and related scanning software and hardware, use of “PDF Flyer” and bookmark software, use of “XCM” electronic workflow software, use of BNA Portfolio, BNA Tax Planner, and CCH research software. · Reviewed and drafted specific tax provisions for partnership, LLC and S-Corp organizational documents, including sections 704 b and c, section 754, minimum gain chargeback provisions, qualified income offset statements, other basis issues concerning repayments and section 1377 alternatives for S-Corp split years. · Used legal knowledge to review wills, various trusts, retirement plans, corporate benefit plans, promissory notes, contracts, real estate transactions & option contracts, tax treaties and IRS memorandum. · Made recommendations regarding poorly drafted documents and inconsistent provisions. · Worked extensively with all types of non-profits, including formation, IRS audits, lobbying expenses, unrelated business income, governing procedures and compensation, required conflict of interest issues and intermediate sanctions. · Drafted and revised estate plan summary documents, including investments, explanations of wills and various trusts and what-if calculations for various scenarios. · Researched nexus issues for multi-state corporations, sales and use tax, property taxes and trust situs issues. · Advised on various titling issues for trusts, retirement accounts and brokerage accounts. · Worked on FBAR issues including amnesty planning and related calculations. · Worked with foreign trusts (forms 3520 and 3520-A) and helped ensure proper compliance for these investments on the related 1040’s and 1041’s. · Advised on complex basis issues to free up suspended losses. · Worked with various charitable trusts and PF’s for both compliance and planning · Reviewing and preparing of federal, state, and local corporate tax returns (1120,1120S and 1120f) · Reviewing and preparing of Federal, State and local Individual tax returns (1040’s) · Reviewing and preparing of federal, state and local partnership returns (1065’s) · Reviewing and preparing of Quarterly estimates tax (Individual, Corporate & Partnership) · Supporting and training staffs in the preparation of all aspects of Individual, corporate & partnership returns · Supervising and train Tax team members · Interacting and building client relationships and support Manager on client accounts
