Companies House – Statutory Accounts filing extension
If your accounts will be late because your company is affected by COVID-19, and your filing deadline has not yet passed, you can apply for an automatic and immediate 3 month extension to file your accounts.
Companies that have already extended their filing deadline, or shortened their accounting reference period, may not be eligible for an extension.
If you do not apply for an extension and your accounts are filed late, an automatic penalty will be imposed. The registrar has very limited discretion not to collect a penalty.
If your application is based on issues around COVID-19, you’ll be automatically and immediately granted a 3 month extension.
This will not change the deadline dates for your future accounts.
How to apply
If you wish to apply for an extension to your filing deadline, please let Prager Metis know and we can apply on your behalf.
Corporation Tax
Please note that the Companies House filing extension does not apply to the company’s Corporation Tax liability which is payable as normal 9 months after the accounting reference date.
The filing deadline for the Corporation Tax Return remains fixed at 12 months following the end of the accounting reference date.
If you are having trouble paying your Corporation Tax on time it may be possible to set up a Time to Pay arrangement with HMRC. Please contact Prager Metis for further details.
